Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu made a clear dig at U.S. President Donald Trump on Monday evening, pointing out that the economy of India is now the world's fastest-growing and stating that it cannot be obstructed by "some people creating problems.
Refuting Trump's "dead economy" statement, Naidu, an NDA ally both at the Centre and in Andhra Pradesh, said only time would tell which economies had weakened and which had withstood the test of time. He made these comments at the Har Ghar Tiranga programme in Vijayawada.
"We have a healthy economy. India is the fastest-growing economy, and no one can match us at this point.". Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, India’s economy has rapidly advanced from 11th to 4th place globally. Our economy is in capable hands. The world depends on India’s services, and we are well-positioned to deliver. By 2047, India will be the strongest country and economy worldwide. The future will decide which economies have faltered. We are already emerging as a global leader,” he said.
India's growth cannot be derailed or disturbed by those causing obstacles to us. Taxations, tariffs, and duties are being charged with the hope of blocking India's growth story, but such impediments—such as trade barriers—are short-lived and cannot hold us back. We will rise nonetheless as a strong nation," Naidu further said.
According to The Indian Express, Andhra Pradesh shrimp farmers are gearing up for the effects of U.S. tariffs, which may amount to almost 60% after President Trump declared a further 25% tariff on top of a prevailing 25%, added to a 5.76% countervailing duty and a 3.96% anti-dumping duty.
India's seafood exports during 2024-25 amounted to $7.38 billion and weighed 1.78 million metric tonnes. The highest proportion is contributed by shrimp, at 92% of seafood exports, while the U.S. market alone accounted for more than 40% of India's exports of shrimp.
Complimenting PM Modi's foreign policy, particularly his efforts to fight terrorism and conduct Operation Sindoor, Naidu claimed that India has friendly relations with every nation. Alluding to the Pahalgam terror attack as unfortunate, he reiterated that India reacted strongly. "We do not interfere in others' matters, but we will not allow others to interfere in ours. With PM Modi as a strong leader, the nation will no longer bow down to anyone," he declared.
Naidu also added that he favors the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign as it inspires national unity, above religion, caste, or language.
