Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday congratulated BJP-led NDA candidate C P Radhakrishnan for his election as Vice President, saying that he will be an excellent Vice President.
Radhakrishnan emerged as the winner by securing 452 votes, while the Opposition candidate B Sudershan Reddy received 300 votes, Returning Officer P C Mody said.
On X, Modi spoke about Radhakrishnan's long tradition of public service and his role in empowering the poor and marginalized.
The prime minister said, "Congratulations to Thiru CP Radhakrishnan Ji on winning the 2025 Vice Presidential election. His life has always been devoted to serving society and empowering the poor and marginalised. I am confident that he will be an outstanding VP, who will strengthen our Constitutional values and enhance Parliamentary discourse."
A record 767 MPs voted in the election, which corresponded to 98.2 per cent turnout. There were 752 valid votes and 15 invalid votes, Mody further stated. There was also one cancelled postal ballot after the MP decided against voting.
