RJD Spokesperson Mrityunjay Tiwari Resigns, Says Party Has No Space for Loyal Workers

Tiwari, who had emerged as one of the Rashtriya Janata Dal’s prominent media faces over several years, shared the decision through an emotional video message released late Thursday evening.

RJD spokesperson Mrityunjay Tiwari on Thursday announced his resignation from the party, alleging that there was "no space for dedicated and loyal workers" within the organisation.

Tiwari, who had emerged as one of the Rashtriya Janata Dal’s prominent media faces over several years, shared the decision through an emotional video message released late Thursday evening.

"Today, I resigned from all my posts in the party. I did so in the presence of state president Mangani Lal Mandal and other senior leaders whom I told that there was no point in remaining in the party while enduring humiliation," he said.

A member of the upper caste community who had frequently defended the RJD’s pro-Mandal Commission position in public debates, Tiwari expressed gratitude to party president Lalu Prasad for giving him key responsibilities.

He thanked Prasad for assigning him "the responsibilities of spokesperson and media in charge way back in 2014".

Tiwari said he had also raised his concerns with Tejashwi Yadav, Lalu Prasad’s political heir and the RJD’s working president.

"But there are many people in the party who are hollowing it like termites. Sadly, Tejashwi Yadav, the leader of the opposition, seems surrounded by such elements", added Tiwari, without providing further details about the individuals he was referring to.

The RJD has not issued any statement on whether Tiwari’s resignation has been accepted.

Meanwhile, speculation has emerged in a section of the media that Tiwari could join the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA).
