Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Monday said that he is making the transition to Zoho, a domestic Indian platform for documents, spreadsheets, and presentations.
Tweeting the information on social media site X, he urged citizens to heed Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Swadeshi call by adopting local products and services.
“I am moving to Zoho -- our own Swadeshi platform for documents, spreadsheets & presentations,” he wrote on X.
“I urge all to join PM Narendra Modi's call for Swadeshi by adopting indigenous products & services,” Mr Vaishnaw added.
The move follows soon after Prime Minister Modi, in a letter to the people, appealed to citizens to use Made-in-India products during the festive period.
The decision was quickly welcomed by Zoho founder Sridhar Vembu, who thanked Mr Vaishnaw for his patronage.
"Thank you Sir, this is a huge morale boost for our engineers who have worked hard for over two decades to build our product suite," Vembu responded. "We will make you proud and make our nation proud. Jai Hind."
PM Modi connected the move to the vision of 'Viksit Bharat 2047', underlining the fact that buying swadeshi products strengthens the economy and gives a boost to local artisans, workers, and industries.
"Every time you buy a product made by our artisans, workers, and industries, you are helping families earn their living and creating job opportunities for our youth," Prime Minister said, further encouraging traders to ensure the sale of locally produced products.
He emphasized that there is an extra reason this festive season to celebrate with the introduction of the "GST Bachat Utsav," facilitated by Next Generation GST reforms.
These reforms, PM Modi stated, are designed to lower the cost of household expenses, ease the life of businesses, and boost growth for all segments of society, including farmers, women, youth, traders, and MSMEs.
The Prime Minister also remembered the implementation of GST in 2017 as a "turning point" that made taxation easy under the principle of "One Nation, One Tax," bringing relief to citizens and entrepreneurs.
Mr Vaishnaw's move to Zoho reflects the government's overall thrust towards embracing local platforms and encouraging self-reliance. It is also a call to citizens to increasingly opt for swadeshi products and services in daily life, reflecting the Prime Minister's vision of inclusive growth and self-reliance.
