Sharath defeated England's Liam Pitchford 11-13, 11-7, 11-2, 11-6, 11-8 to win his second men's singles gold medal in the Commonwealth Games, 16 years after he won in the event in Melbourne 2006 edition. Earlier in the 2022 Commonwealth Games, Sharath won a gold medal in the men's team event, and followed it up with a silver in men's doubles and another gold in mixed doubles.

The final decision was made by Mehta and Khanna.

Duleep Trophy to kick-start Indian domestic season 2022-23, Irani Cup makes a return
"The Duleep Trophy (8th September-25th September) will be contested between six zones (North, South, Central, West, East and Northeast) on a knockout basis. The two multi-day tournaments will be followed by the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and the Vijay Hazare Trophy. The two white-ball tournaments will be contested between 38 teams split into three groups of 8 teams and two groups comprising 7 teams," said the BCCI in an official statement.

CWG 2022: Canada win gold after England disqualified from women's 4x400m relay
England's 4 x 400m women's quartet including Jessie Knight, Ama Pipi, Jodie Williams and Victoria Ohuruogu disqualified due to a lane infringement. Team England Athletics did not appeal the DQ decision, after reviewing the footage they said that there was an acceptance that an appeal would have had no grounds. After the disqualification, the Canadian team, including Natassha McDonald, Aiyanna Stiverne, Micha Powell and Kyra Constantine awarded gold medal while Jamaica take silver and team Scotland win the bronze medal.
