Apple halts product sales in Russia, bars RT & Sputnik from App Store

Deeply concerned about the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Apple has halted sales of all of its products in Russia. The tech giant has also removed media outlets RT and Sputnik from the App Store. The company said that RT News and Sputnik News are no longer available for download from the App Store outside Russia. In an open letter posted on Twitter, Fedorov said he has contacted Cook to block the App Store for people in Russia.
FB to demote Russian state media across its entire platform

Meta-owned Facebook, which has already blocked access to RT and Sputnik within the European Union and Ukraine, now said it will demote all Russian state media across Facebook and Instagram around the world. According to Engadget, Meta's president of Global Affairs Nick Clegg said the company was making Russian state media "harder to find" on Facebook and Instagram.
WhatsApp bans over 1.8 mn bad accounts in India in Jan

Meta-owned WhatsApp on Tuesday said that it banned 1,858,000 bad accounts in India in the month of January in compliance with the new IT Rules, 2021.The company said that it also received 495 grievance reports in the same month from the country and took action on 24 of those in January. Under the new IT rules 2021, big digital and social media platforms -- with more than 5 million users -- have to publish monthly compliance reports.
After FB and Insta, YouTube blocks Russian news outlets RT, Sputnik

The Alphabet-owned company confirmed the news on Twitter. "Due to the ongoing war in Ukraine, we're blocking YouTube channels connected to RT and Sputnik across Europe, effective immediately. It'll take time for our systems to fully ramp up. Our teams continue to monitor the situation around the clock to take swift action," it posted.

Meta now blocks key Russian media outlets RT, Sputnik in EU

Meta (formerly Facebook) has now blocked Russian state media outlets RT (earlier called Russia Today) and Sputnik across the European Union. RT and Sputnik pages aren't visible in the EU on Facebook and Instagram any more. The social network has also blocked Russian state media from advertising on the platform. Hit by partial restrictions, Meta (formerly Facebook) had prohibited Russian state media from running ads or monetising on its platform anywhere in the world.

"In accordance with the IT Rules 2021, we've published our monthly compliance report. We use a combination of Artificial Intelligence, reports from our community and review by our teams to identify and review content against our policies," a Meta spokesperson said in a statement. Meta actioned 1.4 million content related to adult nudity and sexual activity, 233,600 pieces of content related to bullying and harassment and 1.8 million violent and graphic content, among others.
Microsoft says CEO Satya Nadella's son passes away

Tech giant Microsoft Corporation said that Zain Nadella, son of CEO Satya Nadella and his wife Anu Nadella, has died, Bloomberg reported on Tuesday. The software maker told its executive staff in an email that Zain, who was 26 years old and had been born with cerebral palsy, passed away on Monday morning. The message asked executives to hold the family in their thoughts and prayers while giving them space to grieve privately, the report said.
