In one example, there's a prompt dropped right into a conversation in progress that says "conversations like this can be intense", reports The Verge. In another, which seems like it appears if users try to reply to one of those intense conversations, is titled "let's look out for each other" and lays out three bullet points to encourage empathetic and fact-based conversations, it added.

According to CEO Pavel Durov, Telegram experienced a record increase in user registration and activity amid the massive Facebook outage. "The daily growth rate of Telegram exceeded the norm by an order of magnitude, and we welcomed over 70 million refugees from other platforms in one day," Durov said in a statement. "I am proud of how our team handled the unprecedented growth because Telegram continued to work flawlessly for the vast majority of our users," Durov added.

Google to turn on 2-factor authentication by default for 150mn users

With 2FA/2SV, when entering the password to open an app the user will receive a text message on his/her personal device with a unique one-time code to verify identity and open the app. "By the end of 2021, we plan to auto-enroll an additional 150 million Google users in 2SV and require 2 million YouTube creators to turn it on," the company said in a blog post. Google says that two-step verification is "one of the most reliable ways to prevent unauthorized access to accounts and networks."
Short-form video consumption to reach 650 mn users in India by 2025

India's online video user base has scaled to more than 350 million people, growing 24 per cent over 2018 to 2020, nearly twice as fast as markets such as China and Indonesia. More than 200 million Indians watched short-form videos at least once in 2020, with daily active users spending up to 45 minutes a day on these platforms, according to the report by management consulting firm Bain & Company.
