We've been rolling it out everywhere YouTube is available, in more than 100 countries worldwide," Pichai said during the company's earnings call late on Tuesday after Alphabet posted a record June quarter. The YouTube Shorts platform recently added the ability for Shorts creators to sample audio from YouTube videos and says it is exploring ways to offer quick links from Shorts to YouTube videos they've taken samples from.

Instagram makes accounts for users under 16 private by default
Instagram said it is rolling out these changes in the US, Australia, France, the UK and Japan to start and will look to expand to more countries soon. Starting this week, everyone who is under 16 years old (or under 18 in certain countries) will be defaulted into a private account when they join Instagram. Instagram will show users a notification highlighting the benefits of a private account.

Musk criticises Apple as Tesla posts record profit
