New video from the FBI has been released that captures the suspected gunman who shot conservative activist Charlie Kirk running away after a single shot hit him in the neck. The suspect can be seen running across a rooftop, falling off, and then vanishing into a wooded part of the campus of Utah Valley University after the shooting.
In a release, the FBI stated, "At approximately 12 p.m. Mountain Time on September 10, 2025, the suspect ascended to the rooftop; after he fired and murdered Charlie Kirk, he leaped off and fled. He abandoned a gun and ammunition in a thicket outside near the university."
"Trace evidence collected from the rooftop scene included shoe impressions, a forearm imprint, and a palm print. Anyone with information in this case should call the FBI at 1-800-FBI or visit fbi.gov/utahvalleyshooting," it added.
The video captures the suspect wearing a long-sleeve black shirt, hat, sunglasses, and a backpack. Briefly, he also limps before getting back to walking.
In a Friday briefing, the Governor of Utah spoke to the problem of rampant misinformation on the internet, calling on individuals not to perpetuate it further. "I think Charlie said it best, that when things get bad, we should put our phones down and spend time with our families. Our adversaries want violence," he said, claiming that Russian and Chinese bots on social media are playing a role in spreading disinformation.
"Multiple leads are currently being investigated, but no suspect is in custody," Utah law enforcement officials posted.
"We're doing everything we can to find him, and we're not sure how far he has gone yet," FBI Special Agent Robert Bohls said earlier.
