Citroen has added the Basalt X model to its coupe SUV model range in India. Placed above the highest-spec Max trim, the Basalt X offers a number of upgrades and additions.
Priced at an introductory Rs 7.95 lakh (ex-showroom), bookings commenced on August 22, with customers being able to reserve the SUV for a token sum of Rs 11,000.
Visually, Basalt X looks the same as the current C3X, with the only identifying feature being the new Basalt X badge on the rear tailgate. The front face still has DRLs above the headlamps, which retain its unique appearance, while the sloping roofline helps maintain the coupe-like profile.
Within, the Basalt X Max offers minimalist cosmetic upgrades. The dashboard features angled pattern stamps, bronze trim elements, and a new tan-and-black interior upholstery combination. Leatherette trimming on the dashboard provides an additional touch of class.
Where the Basalt X really excels is in terms of its features. Heading the list is Cara, Citroen's new voice assistant, reserved for automatic models of the Basalt X Max. Cara has the ability to perform a range of tasks, ranging from monitoring real-time flight information, analyzing traffic paths based on flight timings, sending vehicle health reports, managing multimedia operations, making calls, sending SOS messages, and custom smart reminders.
Other options include ventilated seats, cruise control, keyless entry and push-button start, white ambient lighting, LED fog lamps, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and an optional 360-degree camera system.
The Basalt X trims carry the same engine choices as Max trims. The upper variants are equipped with a 1.2-litre, 3-pot turbo-petrol motor generating 110 hp, paired with either a 6-speed manual or 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. Lower Basalt X variants feature a 1.2-litre, 3-pot petrol engine generating 82 hp with a 5-speed manual transmission.
