Following its ambitious product launch in the Indian luxury market, Mercedes-Benz will release the Mercedes-AMG CLE 53 Coupe on August 12.
First unveiled internationally in December 2024, the CLE 53 takes over from the C-Class and E-Class coupes, bringing Mercedes' two-door range under a lone performance-oriented luxury badge.
The CLE 53 Coupe comes with a clear-cut AMG character. At the front, it has the Panamericana grille of the brand, accompanied by honed bumpers, angular side skirts, and aggressive design elements across. The rear accommodates a quad-exhaust sport setup, whereas front fenders have some extra air vents to enhance aerodynamic performance. The coupe is mounted on 19-inch AMG alloy wheels, finishing its sporty stance.
Under the hood, the CLE 53 borrows inspiration from the C-Class but injects a dose of performance. A prominent, vertically stacked touchscreen sits atop the center console, with round AC vents and a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster supporting the upscale cockpit look. Sport seats with bolstering boost, an AMG-specific flat-bottom steering wheel, and bespoke AMG graphics on the display systems are exclusive to the AMG version.
Beneath the bonnet, the CLE 53 Coupe is driven by the M256 3.0-litre inline-six twin-turbocharged engine, aided by a 48V mild-hybrid system. It has 443 hp and 560 Nm of torque, with another 40 Nm under its belt courtesy of the overboost function. Drive goes to all four wheels via Mercedes' 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive system and 9-speed automatic gearbox.
The coupe accelerates from 0 to 100 kmph in a stated 4.2 seconds, with a top speed electronically capped at 250 kmph. Braking is provided by 370 mm discs accompanied by four-piston calipers at the front and 360 mm discs with single-piston calipers at the back.
The Mercedes-AMG CLE 53 Coupe is likely to be priced higher than the current C-Class Coupe. Upon launch, it will compete with high-performance cars such as the BMW M2 and the Audi RS5 in India.
