TVS Motor has launched its newest electric scooter, the Orbiter, in India. At a starting price of Rs 99,900 (ex-showroom), the Orbiter is added to the company's current iQube series. As a more affordable option, the Orbiter competes head-to-head with the Ather Rizta in the Indian EV landscape.
Design-wise, the TVS Orbiter has an entirely new styling theme over the iQube. The scooter boasts a minimalist, no-fuss design with unadorned lines, without curves and contours.
Its minimalism is complemented by a bright multi-colour theme, with six choices: Neon Sunburst, Stratos Blue, Lunar Grey, Stellar Silver, Cosmic Titanium, and Martian Copper. The headlamp is placed high up, and the DRL is housed within the front apron.
The scooter also boasts a flat seat that is 845 mm long, as per TVS, to ensure a comfortable riding position. It has a ground clearance of 169 mm and uses 14-inch wheels. Functionality is prioritized with 34 litres of underseat space and a large 290 mm flat footboard.
On the features side of things, the TVS Orbiter gets a multi-colour instrument cluster that shows important ride details. It also provides Bluetooth connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation, theft alert, and OTA updates. TVS says it packs several segment-first features like cruise control, along with reverse parking and automated hill hold assist.
In terms of performance, the Orbiter comes equipped with a 3.1 kWh battery pack that promises a claimed range of 158 km per charge. This is much better than the base iQube that promises 94 km with a 2.2 kWh battery pack. The 3.1 kWh version of iQube, for instance, has a range of 123 km priced at Rs 1.08 lakh (ex-showroom).
