Vietnamese automaker VinFast has officially launched its luxury electric SUVs, the VF 6 and VF 7, in India, representing a major milestone in the expansion of the company worldwide and its belief in supporting India's transition to sustainable mobility.
Speaking at the launch event, Pham Sanh Chau, CEO of VinFast Asia, said, “Today marks a historic milestone – the launch of cars that are not just made in India, but made by Indians, for Indians. The VinFast VF 6 is a compact SUV based on the design philosophy of "The Duality in Nature." It features a 59.6kWh battery pack, which can be fast charged from 10% to 70% in 25 minutes and boasts an ARAI-certified range of up to 468 km. Equipped with a 2,730mm wheelbase and 190mm ground clearance, the VF 6 has been customized for Indian roads and family application.The VF 6 will be available in three variants – Earth, Wind, and Wind Infinity. The Earth variant offers 174bhp (130kW) and 250Nm of torque, featuring a 12.9-inch infotainment screen, powered driver seat, cruise control, and a piano-inspired gear selector. The Wind trim increases power to 201bhp (150kW) with 310Nm of torque, can go from 0–100 km/h in 8.9 seconds, and includes ventilated seats, dual-zone air conditioning with PM 1.0 filtration, ADAS Level 2, and 18-inch alloy wheels. The Wind Infinity variant also enhances the experience by including a panoramic fixed glass roof.
The bigger VF 7 SUV shares the design philosophy of "The Universe is Asymmetrical." With a length of more than 4.5 meters and a 2,840mm wheelbase, the VF 7 will be available in five trim levels – Earth, Wind, Wind Infinity, Sky, and Sky Infinity – with FWD and AWD options. The Earth trim will feature a 59.6kWh battery that churns 130kW power and 250Nm torque, which will get charged in 24 minutes. The Wind variant has a 70.8kWh battery with 201bhp (150kW) and 310Nm, reaching 0–100 km/h in 9.5 seconds. The Sky variant adds a dual-motor AWD system developing 348bhp (260kW) and 500Nm, accelerating to 0–100 km/h in 5.8 seconds. Infinity grades of the Wind and Sky trims get panoramic glass roofs, and the VF 7 has an approved range of 438–532 km depending on the variant.
Both SUVs come loaded with luxury features including LED projector headlamps, connected car technology, a 12.9-inch infotainment display with wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, drive modes, ADAS Level 2, seven airbags, and a 360-degree surround-camera system.
VinFast has also partnered to drive EV adoption in India. Collaborations with RoadGrid, myTVS, and Global Assure will work towards establishing country-wide charging and after-sales networks, while BatX Energies will work towards sophisticated battery recycling and building a circular economy. Partnerships with top banks and financial institutions will provide flexible financing terms.
To consolidate its presence, VinFast intends to put up 35 dealer stores and 26 workshops in 27 cities by the end of 2025, spanning major metros and upcoming EV hubs like Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Pune, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kochi, and Lucknow. Both versions will be produced at VinFast's Thoothukudi factory in Tamil Nadu, which is situated close to a port to cover both domestic and overseas markets.
Internationally, VinFast has a presence in the US, Canada, Europe, the Philippines, Indonesia, and the Middle East, along with being Vietnam's leading auto manufacturer. It has gained fame for its speedy expansion and EV innovation.
VinFast has a compelling ownership proposition for Indian buyers. Offers include complimentary charging at VGreens centres through July 28, an extensive 10-year or 2,00,000 km warranty for the VF 7 and 7 years or 2,00,000 km for the VF 6, three years of complimentary maintenance, and a free curtain for the panoramic glass sunroof that adds to the luxury ownership experience.
