Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday emphasized that India's industrious middle class is the epicenter of the country's economic growth.

Replying to a tweet by Dixon Technologies Chairman Sunil Vachani, the Prime Minister noted that the recent Goods and Services Tax (GST) reforms are aimed at reducing the prices of many household items and appliances — including TVs and air conditioners.

"With historic income tax reductions and now #NextGenGST reforms making things such as TVs, ACs and daily items affordable, we are dedicated to increasing ease of living and supporting the dreams of crores of families," PM Modi tweeted in a post on X.

Describing the GST rationalisation as a "game-changer" for Indian producers, the Prime Minister asserted that the new structure of 5% and 18% tax brackets, coupled with reduced input costs and faster digital compliance, will stimulate demand for indigenous goods.

He also flagged the pivotal role of small businesses in driving India's growth engine, underlining that micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) continue to be at the core of job creation and economic resilience.

“Through historic income tax cuts and now #NextGenGST reforms that make products like TVs, ACs and everyday essentials more affordable, we are committed to enhancing ease of living and supporting the aspirations of crores of families,” PM Modi said on social media platform X.

Associating the reforms with larger national agendas, the Prime Minister informed that increasing access to health and life insurance under the new GST regime serves the vision of having "Insurance for All by 2047."

“Together, we move towards a Swasth and Samarth Bharat,” the Prime Minister Modi added.

Earlier, Sunil Vachani, Chairman of Dixon Technologies, had praised the changes, sending congratulations to the Prime Minister, Finance Minister, GST Council, and industry group CII. He noted that the new steps would not only streamline the business ecosystem but also add momentum to India's bid to become a global manufacturing hub.

The launch of so-called "GST 2.0" is widely seen as a milestone move, combining tax rationalization, easier living, and better business facilitation — all of which are expected to consolidate India's growth path.
