BMW Group India on Tuesday announced Hardeep Singh Brar as its new President and Chief Executive Officer, whose term will commence on September 1.
Brar will replace Vikram Pawah, who will move to head BMW Group's operations in Australia and New Zealand, as per a company release.
"India is one of the fastest growing markets for the BMW Group and a key pillar of our long-term success strategy for this region. Hardeep Singh Brar brings immense experience and a complex understanding of Indian automotive business to drive this fast-paced market and develop BMW Group's presence here," said Jean-Philippe Parain, Senior Vice President Region Asia-Pacific, Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa at BMW Group.
Parain also thanked Pawah for his "immense contribution towards strategic growth of BMW Group India and playing a decisive role in its recent development."
Having spent more than three decades in the Indian automobile industry, Brar is a seasoned professional with an impressive resume. He was previously Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Kia India.
BMW Group celebrated Pawah's achievements, pointing out that he joined the company in 2017. He has played leadership positions at both India (2017–2018 and 2020–2025) and Australia (2018–2020) during his time with the company.
"Over the last few years, Pawah focused the BMW Group India's attention on achieving market share growth through new opportunities and target groups and elevating electric mobility, digitalization, retail experience and customer centricity," the automaker stated.
Functioning under its luxury brands BMW, MINI, and Motorrad, the BMW Group is persistently targeting the Indian automobile industry's high-end segment. BMW India, which is a subsidiary company of BMW Group, was started in 2007 and has its base in Gurugram, the National Capital Region.
