7.8 lakh students dropout from UP Board exams in 4 days

Nearly 7.8 lakh students have dropped out of the ongoing Class 10 and 12 examinations of the Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad (UPMSP), also known as the UP Board. On Monday, a whopping 2.9 lakh class 10 and 12 students skipped their exams. Class 10 and 12 students had Computer and Geography exams respectively on Monday.
SC seeks DGHS response on pleas for taking part in mop-up round of NEET-PG counselling

Senior advocate Gopal Sankaranarayanan, representing some petitioners, submitted before a bench headed by Justice D.Y. Chandrachud that after the second round of counselling, his clients were allotted the seats and later, the DGHS issued two notices to bring into the pool some seats which were not available to them. He said that hundreds of seats were added to the pool and as a result, people not on merit, were given seats, which were not available to his clients.
Amid hijab row, 8.73L students to appear for SSLC exams in Karnataka

It is going to be a litmus test for the Bommai-led BJP government in Karnataka as 8.73 lakh students will appear for the crucial SSLC (Class 10) exams from Monday amid the hijab row. The conducting of exams has assumed significance as the state government has said a strict no to hijab after the High Court ruling, and the exams are being conducted in the normal pattern after the 2-year pandemic disruption.
Indian online higher education market to reach $5 bn by 2025

Online higher education is emerging as the fastest growing sub-segment of the edtech sector. The user base for online higher education grew by 75 per cent in 2021, despite a three times growth in the average ticket size compared to the K12 segment. In fact, the market size for online higher education in India is now comparable to the largest edtech segments (K6-12 including test preparation), the report showed.
Don't seek admission in China, Indian students warned

On a day when Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi visited India, the UGC and AICTE warned Indian students and their parents not to seek admission in professional courses in China. The University Grant Commission (UGC) warning, a first of sorts in connection with Chinese educational institutions, invoked the extant rules that both UGC and AICTE "do not recognise such degree courses conducted only in online mode without prior approval".
Pariksha Pe Charcha: Modi to interact with students on April 1

UP Board examinations begin today for 52L students

Around 52 lakh students are taking the Class 10 and Class 12 UP Board examination from Thursday. Of these, 27.8 lakh students will appear for Class 10 and 24.1 lakh for Class 12. The exams will be held at 8,373 centres across the state. The UP Secondary Education Board (UPSEB) has identified 254 centres as 'highly-sensitive' and 861 centres as 'sensitive' in view of vulnerability for cheating.
No provision for re-examination if candidate fails to appear, UPSC to SC

It said it conducts the civil services examination strictly in accordance with the rules of examination framed annually by the government. It clarified that any decision regarding age relaxation and compensatory/extra attempt is a policy matter falling under the domain of the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT).
First-ever common entrance test for all Central universities to be held in first week of July: UGC

“The Common University Entrance Test (CUET) for admission in Undergraduate programs from the academic session 2022-2023 in all UGC funded Central Universities will be conducted in 13 languages namely Hindi, Marathi, Gujarati, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Urdu, Assamese, Bengali, Punjabi, Odia and English by the National Testing Agency (NTA),” a public notice by UGC said.
Students who returned from Ukraine to get admission in Karnataka colleges

Karnataka Health Minister K. Sudhakar on Monday said arrangements would be made for the students who returned from war-struck Ukraine to continue their studies in the state's medical colleges. The minister made this announcement during a press conference at Vidhana Soudha after meeting a delegation of students who returned from Ukraine.
