Production on Spider-Man: Brand New Day has been halted after Tom Holland was hospitalized during filming on the Glasgow set.
Deadline has confirmed that filming stopped on Friday as Holland was treated for a mild concussion. A source who is affiliated with the production indicated that the actor will be taking a brief break "out of precaution" but will be back on set in a few days.
The Sun explained that Holland's accident happened on a stunt that went wrong. The site also said that he visited a charity event over the weekend with fiancée and co-star Zendaya. Sources talking to Deadline also noted that no other members of the cast and crew were hurt during the accident. A meeting is set for tomorrow to correct the filming schedule.
Before production began in Scotland last month, Holland shared his excitement about filming on location after shooting Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021) entirely on soundstages due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Now, we’re really gonna lean into that old-school filmmaking and shoot in real locations, which is why we’re starting in Glasgow and we’re gonna use the streets of Glasgow to build this massive set-piece that we’re putting together,” Holland explained. "So it's gonna feel like redoing [2017's] Spider-Man 1 again. It's been so long since I've done it, it's gonna be a breath of fresh air, and I think the fans are gonna be over the moon with what we're assembling."
In October, Sony revealed that Spider-Man: Brand New Day would open on July 24, 2026, in its summer slate, unveiling the title in public at CinemaCon in March.
The movie is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, who directed Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, and producers like Amy Pascal and Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige. Zendaya will be reprising her character as MJ, with Sadie Sink and Liza Colón-Zayas joining the cast in unknown roles.
