YRF spy thriller "War 2", directed by Ayan Mukerji and starring Bollywood icons Hrithik Roshan and Kiara Advani, with Telugu megastar Jr NTR, has collected more than Rs 300 crore worldwide.
The movie opened in theatres on August 14, around the same time Rajinikanth starrer "Coolie" released, causing a high-profile box office showdown.
As a follow-up to the 2019 movie "War", in which Hrithik played RAW agent Kabir opposite Vaani Kapoor and Tiger Shroff, "War 2" takes up the spy series. In the sequel, Kabir turns against his masters and clashes with top agent Vikram, Jr NTR, in an international adventure. Jr NTR also makes his Bollywood debut in the film.
As per producers, day-wise collections of the film are Rs 54 crore in all languages on Thursday, Rs 61 crore on Friday, Rs 36 crore on Saturday, and Rs 34 crore on Sunday. On the fifth day, it collected more than Rs 9.50 crore. Overseas box office added Rs 60.50 crore and the worldwide gross now stands at Rs 300.50 crore.
War 2" belongs to the YRF Spy Universe, a series of spy action blockbusters that also features films such as "Ek Tha Tiger" (2012), "Tiger Zinda Hai" (2017), "War", "Pathaan" (2023), and "Tiger 3" (2023).
Aditya Chopra is producing the film under the Yash Raj Films banner.
