Actor Kiku Sharda will temporarily bid adieu to the sets of his hit Netflix comedy show The Great Indian Kapil Show. The comedian will soon appear in a new streaming reality show, Rise & Fall.
Production sources inform us that the shoot for Rise & Fall takes off this Wednesday, and Kiku will cut short his routine for Kapil Sharma's show as long as he stays within the confines of the Rise & Fall house.
Interestingly enough, while The Great Indian Kapil Show is streamed on Netflix, Rise & Fall will come out on Amazon MX Player—pitting the two platforms against each other directly.
The new reality show, based on Bigg Boss's format, will be hosted by Shark Tank India's Ashneer Grover. Unlike common hosts, Ashneer has also been actively involved in molding the cast of the show. According to a source, Grover has personally been involved in shortlisting the contestants and even vetoed a list of names himself.
The insider revealed that Ashneer ruled out five of the original contestants, labeling them "too boring" or "not sharp enough for the game." Instead of choosing big names, he apparently went after personalities who could inject intensity, strategy, and surprise into the program.
Talking about the same, a well-placed source had earlier said, “He wasn’t here for safe choices. He kept pushing for contestants who had an edge, think strategically, and shake things up”.
Rise & Fall will soon stream on Amazon MX Player.
