Shah Rukh Khan Injured on Set of King, Advised Month-Long Rest; Flies to US for Treatment

Sources close to production reveal that the incident led to a temporary commotion on set, but insiders claim that there is no cause for concern.

Action hero Shah Rukh Khan has suffered a brief setback while shooting his highly-awaited action thriller King, now directed by Siddharth Anand. The star injured himself while shooting a high-adrenaline sequence at a Mumbai studio, leading to doctors advising him to take a month-long break.

Sources close to production reveal that the incident led to a temporary commotion on set, but insiders claim that there is no cause for concern.

"He was filming in Mumbai when he got injured. The nature of the injury is being kept under wraps currently. It is an injury of the muscle and nothing serious,". That being noted, it is not being underestimated," a source working on the project said.

Shah Rukh is said to have visited the United States for treatment and will be taking time off until he's completely recovered. "He has been advised to take a one-month rest. Until then, Shah Rukh has been advised to rest and concentrate on the recovery. As a matter of fact, he has also been asked to report to the set carefully," the source informed.

Therefore, the July-August shooting schedule has now been ditched and the subsequent round of shooting is most probably going to start after September. In the meantime, fans have observed that Shah Rukh's longtime manager Pooja Dadlani has uploaded an Instagram Story in New York recently—giving rise to speculations regarding the whereabouts of the actor.

King is the first big production of Shah Rukh Khan and daughter Suhana Khan, who is included in the lead cast. Veteran Saurabh Shukla also has a significant role in the film. Although the entire ensemble cast is yet to be officially announced, Deepika Padukone, Rani Mukerji, Anil Kapoor, Abhishek Bachchan, Jackie Shroff, and Raghav Juyal have been reportedly linked with the film.

Joining the increasing hype, actor Jaideep Ahlawat has recently confirmed his participation in an interview with Lallantop. Telling us about how he joined the movie, Ahlawat said: “SRK sir kaafi time se soch rahe the iss cheez ko, jaisa mujhe pata laga hai, but Siddharth (Anand) bhai thoda hichak rahe honge ki chota part hai to offer after Jewel Thief. But Khan saab being Khan saab, he said I’ll talk to him. Ab unki baat kaun nakarega.”
(SRK sir had been contemplating this for a long time, so far as I know. But Siddharth bhai was not very sure as it was a small role following Jewel Thief. But Khan saab, being Khan saab, he said that he would talk to me. And who can refuse him?)

Scheduled for release, King has not yet been officially dated, although excitement remains high for the film, which is expected to mix action, emotion, and star power equally.
