The backlash was faced from certain users who claimed that she had forgotten the memory of late actor Sidharth Shukla on his fourth death anniversary, which falls on September 2.
A comment on her post was, "Shame on you for how you forgot Sidarth," while another user commented, "Shame on you who just want entertainment in the name of deaths."
In spite of the negativity, some of Shehnaaz's fans came to her defense, pointing out that mourning is personal and doesn't necessarily have to be done publicly. One fan who came to her defense wrote that if Shehnaaz had used Sidharth's name in her dinner post, she would have been blamed for using his name for sympathy. Another pointed out that it doesn't necessarily have to be shown on social media for it to be authentic.
Fans also pointed out that Shehnaaz never took her connection with Sidharth for granted throughout her life and professional career. They emphasized that the absence of words cannot be interpreted as a lack of recall. The disagreement highlighted the emotional connection fans still hold for the deceased actor and the affection they have for "SidNaaz," the revered couple of Sidharth and Shehnaaz.
Sidharth Shukla's untimely death in September 2021 from a heart attack at the age of 40 had left the country shocked.
His close bond with Shehnaaz, which emerged while being in Bigg Boss 14, had won the hearts of millions of viewers. Their banter moments were the highlight of the show, and Shehnaaz's heartbreaking sobbing at his funeral touched hearts. At the time, reports even indicated that the two were set to wed in December 2021.
