Two gangsters who were involved in the recent attack on the house of actor Disha Patani in Bareilly were gunned down in a police encounter near Ghaziabad's Tronica City on Wednesday.
The two men, Ravindra alias Kallu and Arun, were members of Rohit Godara–Goldy Brar gang and were wanted in other criminal cases as well.
The accused were traced after authorities spotted them riding the same motorcycle used in the September 12 firing incident outside Patani’s home. According to police, a joint operation involving the Delhi Police, the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF), and the Haryana STF ended in a gun battle in which both shooters sustained critical injuries. They later died in the hospital.
Shortly after the Bareilly attack, the Goldy Brar gang had claimed responsibility in a social media post, alleging that the Patani family had insulted Sanatana Dharma by making derogatory remarks against saints Premanand Maharaj and Anidruddhacharya Maharaj.
Investigators said the primary target of the assailants was Disha Patani’s father, Jagdish Patani, a retired police officer, who was present inside the house when the attack occurred. According to the FIR, around 3:30 am on September 12, Jagdish Patani was alerted by his dogs and spotted two men on a motorcycle outside his balcony. When he challenged them, one of them allegedly ordered, "Kill him," and then fired at him. Patani escaped without injury by hiding behind a balcony pillar. A number of bullets were discharged, two of them in the air, and a video of the event has now surfaced.
After the firing incident, a case was filed by Bareilly police, and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath directly called Jagdish Patani, directing officials to close the issue immediately. Security in the Patani residence was beefed up immediately, while CCTV camera footage and crime history from surrounding states were under scrutiny, eventually resulting in Wednesday's operation.
At the site of the encounter, police seized a Glock pistol, a Zigana pistol, and several live cartridges. Officials have confirmed that investigations are being conducted to identify other partners linked to the gang.
