Bollywood star Akshay Kumar brought royal elegance to the ramp during the Hyundai FDCI India Couture Week 2025 as he walked the ramp as showstopper for top designer duo Falguni Shane Peacock.

The look blended heritage craftsmanship with contemporary sophistication, making for a show-stopping moment at the fashion gala.

The sherwani jacket had beautiful silk thread embroidery all over, complemented by elaborate gold buttons, sharp tailoring, and formal shoulders. Its gentle glow and ageless design brought to mind regal splendor, and Kumar's black sunglasses provided a contemporary flourish to the look.

Speaking to the media after the performance, the actor welcomed everyone with warmth.
"Thank you very much. Main Hindi mein bolunga. Aap sabhi logo ka bohot bohot dhanyawad, jitne bhi yahan log aaye, aur media. Kaafi late nahi ho gaya hai?" he said, filling the room with smiles at his signature humor.

Having a light moment with photographers, Akshay disclosed that it was a return to the ramp after over a decade.

“Actually, after a long time I’m doing this walk, ramp walk. Mujhe yaad hai, aaj se kareeban 12 saal pehle, maine phir ek baar ramp walk kiya tha, maine inhi ke saath kiya tha. And it’s been an honour doing that,” he reminisced.

The actor also took a moment to commend the dedication and behind-the-scenes effort that goes into a couture show — often condensed into a brief spectacle.

“I have enjoyed each and every bit of it… I’ve seen how much hard work goes into putting together and organizing a fashion show, and then it all ends in just 25 minutes. People get dressed up elaborately, and within 25 minutes, the whole show is over," he remarked.

Expressing admiration for the designers’ global appeal, Kumar said,
"But, I just want to say that Shane and Falguni, the way they have projected themselves in such a global manner, I feel that they have made India so proud. I wish them a lot of luck and I hope I get another chance to be with them."

When questioned about his experience of wearing the designer dress, he had a simple reply, "Well I feel very royal."

The evening's presentation was framed by a lavish stage that was bedecked with classical columns and luscious foliage, recalling the extravagance of Indian maharajas' courts. Taking artistic inspiration from architectural wonders such as the Laxmi Vilas Palace and Jaipur's City Palace, the collection celebrated the intricate beauty of traditional Indian design.
