Director SS Rajamouli announced on Saturday that the globe and scope of his next with Mahesh Babu — provisionally titled SSMB29 — are so huge that conventional promotional avenues such as a photo or press meet would fall short. Instead, the crew is getting a special presentation to get a hold of the film's essence, depth, and immersive world that would be released in November 2025.
Celebrating Mahesh Babu's birthday, Rajamouli tweeted on X: "Dear Indian and international cinema lovers, as well as Mahesh fans, It has been some time since we started shooting, and we value your impatience to hear about the movie. But the scope and story of this film are so extensive that I feel that just pictures or press conferences wouldn't be able to do justice to it. We are working on something to be able to present the essence, depth, and immersive world we are crafting. This will be revealed in November 2025, and we are attempting to make it a NEVER-BEFORE-SEEN reveal. Thank you all for waiting."
The movie has been grabbing headlines for a number of reasons — the biggest one, of course, being that Mahesh Babu will be doing all his stunts without a body double, adding an extra shot of realism to the action scenes.
Going against his long-standing tradition, Rajamouli has decided not to work with his go-to cinematographer K.K. Senthil Kumar, who photographed some of his biggest blockbusters like Magadheera, Baahubali – The Beginning, and RRR.
Much of SSMB29, which is being produced on a rich budget, has been shot in Odisha. The cast includes Priyanka Chopra and Prithviraj Sukumaran apart from Mahesh Babu. The movie, which mixes action-adventure with themes of history and mythology, is scheduled to be released in 2027.
