‘False & Baseless’: PIB Refutes Pakistan’s Claim on India’s S-400, Clarifies Image Origin

The PIB Fact Check wing clarified on X: "Some pro-Pakistan social media handles are circulating claims that India admits its S-400 being damaged by Pakistan."

The Press Information Bureau (PIB) on Saturday brushed aside Pakistan's propaganda that India's S-400 air defence system was "damaged" in Operation Sindoor, calling it fake news. Operation Sindoor was India's retaliatory military action after the Pakistan-sponsored terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir.

It added, "Reports of destruction or any damage to an S-400 system are false & baseless."

The PIB also pointed out that the picture that was going around with these reports actually belonged to a Victory Parade that had taken place in Russia in May 2010.

The clarification comes in the wake of the April 22 terror attack at Pahalgam, where Lashkar-e-Taiba-hi affiliated terrorists fired at civilians, killing 26 individuals.

Retaliation saw India begin Operation Sindoor, aimed at nine prominent terror hotspots, such as Lashkar-e-Taiba's headquarters in Muridke and Jaish-e-Mohammad's base in Bahawalpur.

Pakistan responded with a flurry of drones and missiles, all of which were intercepted and destroyed by India, thanks largely to the S-400 system.

India then attacked Pakistan's principal airbases, such as Nur Khan and Rahim Yar Khan. The mutual exchange of hostilities between the two nuclear neighbours ultimately ended after Pakistan's DGMO called his Indian counterpart to sign an agreement to a ceasefire on land, sea, and air.
