On Monday, a 43-year-old man was arrested for having allegedly made a false bomb threat to a railway station in Thane district. The Government Railway Police (GRP) said that the accused Rupesh Madhukar Ranpise had phoned the police helpline at about 4 pm on Sunday and said he had left a bomb at Kalwa railway station, PTI reported.

This is not the first case of bomb hoaxes in the city. In August, an email threat of a bomb blast was sent to the ISKCON Temple in Girgaon, South Mumbai. Temple authorities instantly alerted the police, who carried out a rigorous search with the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS). The search did not yield any explosives, and the threat was ruled as a hoax. The temple had also received a similar email threat in September.

On July 25, Mumbai Police also received a call threatening a bomb at the Terminal 2 of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA). A thorough check of the terminal did not find any suspicious luggage.
