No Political Party Complaints Two Weeks After Draft Rolls Released: Election Commission

As per the bulletin, more than 17,000 people approached the poll body directly to lodge their complaints.

The Election Commission (EC), on Wednesday, made the statement in its regular report on the contentious Special Intensive Revision (SIR) campaign in Bihar that not a single political party has complained about or objected to voters being added or deleted from the electoral rolls.

As per the bulletin, more than 17,000 people approached the poll body directly to lodge their complaints.

Total 74,525 new electors have asked to be added to the voter list. Of them, six people who became 18 years old after the draft rolls were issued on August 1 applied through Booth Level Agents (BLAs).

While focus has primarily been on the net influx of new voters in the run-up to Bihar's Assembly polls later this year, what has been remarkable is the lack of allegations or objections by opposition parties, particularly considering their earlier opposition to the voter verification exercise in the state last month.

The EC observed that objections and claims will be disposed of by the concerned ERO/AERO seven days after verification of the documents submitted for eligibility.

"According to SIR orders, no name can be erased from the draft list dated 1st August 2025 without clearing a speaking order by the ERO/AERO after holding an enquiry and after offering a reasonable and fair opportunity," the statement issued by the commission added.

The poll authorities had released the draft electoral rolls on August 1, which gave a month's time to the people and parties to object to inclusion or exclusion.

Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) has posted 47,506 BLAs, Congress has 17,549, and the Left parties have more than 2,000, a total of more than 67,000 agents.

The EC completed the enumeration phase of the SIR between June 24 and July 25. At the end of the revision process, 7.24 crore plus voters, out of the total of 7.89 crore, had returned their enumeration forms.
