Over 1.55 Cr register for 3rd phase of vaccination on Day 1
As per the CoWin dashboard, over 23 lakh people registered for the third phase of vaccination on Thursday. Around 10.30 am, 23,82,756 people, have registered themselves for the Covid vaccination on Thursday. On Wednesday, registration for the third phase inoculation started at 4 pm and in eight hours till midnight more than one crore people got themselves registered for vaccination.
WHO to supply oxygen concentrators, hospital beds
The WHO is procuring laboratory supplies, including 1.2 million reagents, to meet the huge demand and need for testing; mobile field hospitals with a capacity of 20-30 beds, which could be set up in the most affected areas. The WHO is also chartering flights to bring in 4, 000 oxygen concentrators to help meet the increased demands.
BJP MLA drives off with O2 cylinders amidst crisis in UP
According to reports, the MLA's vehicle (UP 41 AE 0111), on Wednesday, drove into the Sarang Oxygen plant in Safedabad kotwali circle in Barabanki and a short while later, drove out packed with refilled oxygen cylinders. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has categorically stated that oxygen cylinders will be given only to Covid hospitals but the rule apparently does not apply to the BJP MLA.
Facebook 'mistakenly' blocked posts calling for Modi to resign
Buzzfeed News first reported that Facebook temporarily hid posts with the hashtag or text #ResignModi because "some content in those posts goes against our Community Standards". The Facebook users who tried to view the hashtag saw a message saying that Facebook was temporarily hiding the posts in order to keep the community safe.
Congress leader V.V. Prakash dead
Prakash, 56, had undergone an angioplasty procedure a few months back and according to many, he was all set to regain the Nilambur constituency from the Left. Around 3.30 a.m., Prakash suffered a cardiac arrest and he was declared dead when he was brought to a hospital at Manjeri, near Nilambur.
More oxygen beds to come up across Delhi in coming weeks: Arvind Kejriwal
Chairing a meeting with health officials on the coronavirus situation, he deliberated on the plan to increase the number of oxygen beds in the coming days, along with strengthening the home isolation system. Deputy Chief Minister and Nodal Minister Manish Sisodia, Health Minister Satyendar Jain, the Additional Chief Secretary, and Health Secretary were also present in the meeting along with health officials.

SpiceJet airlifts 1,000 oxygen concentrators from Hong Kong to Delhi
According to the company, these oxygen concentrators, a medical device that concentrates oxygen from ambient air, have been ordered by SpiceHealth for emergency use and distribution across India. This is the second big consignment of oxygen concentrators ordered and delivered to SpiceHealth.
