Justice Virendra Kumar Srivastava, a sitting judge of the Allahabad High Court, passed away on Wednesday after being afflicted by Covid. Justice Srivastava was at the Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court.
EC releases 318 companies of forces before 8th phase of Bengal polls

SC asks UP govt to shift Kappan to Delhi for treatment

The bench comprising Chief Justice N.V. Ramana, Justices S. Kant and A.S. Bopanna was hearing the habeas corpus petition filed by Kerala Union of Working Journalists(KUWJ) seeking Kappan's release. The Court said that he has to be given treatment at Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital or AIIMS or any other government hospital in Delhi and after recovery, he has to be sent back to Mathura jail, where he is under custody.
Gurugram hospitals to fill Google form to access liquid oxygen

The district administration has clarified that efforts will be made to provide oxygen only to those hospitals and nursing homes registered with it. An order in this regard was issued by Additional Chief Secretary T.C. Gupta.
Delhi HC comes down heavily on Gautam Gambhir

Delhi High Court division bench of Justices Vipin Sanghi and Rekha Palli asked, "Are these not prescription drugs? How is anybody able to procure large quantities? Is he holding a license to deal in these drugs?." Rahul Mehra, representing the Delhi government, told the court that it is "highly irresponsible" on the part of Gambhir, while when contacted Gautam Gambir's office did not elicit any response on the Court remarks.
Major quake hits Assam, Arunachal: PM assures all help

At least seven aftershocks were recorded in the hours after the first quake shook up Sonitpur bordering Arunachal Pradesh in northern Assam at 7.51 a.m. on Wednesday. According to the National Centre for Seismology (NCS) the tremors were felt even in North Bengal and other parts of the northeastern states including Arunachal Pradesh.

"The data should reassure many people that in the real world, after-effects of the vaccine are usually mild and short-lived, especially in the over 50's who are most at risk of the infection," Tim Spector, Professor of Genetic Epidemiology at the varsity.

A Union Home Ministry notification said, "In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (2) of section 1 of the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (Amendment) Act, 2021 (15 of 2021), the Central Government hereby appoints the 27th day of April 2021, as the date on which the provisions of the said Act shall come into force."
