Over 61% voter turnout till 2 p.m. in Assam polls
Tuesday's balloting would decide the fate of 337 candidates, including 25 women aspirants. All Covid-19 protocols for the voters including social distancing and thermal screening are being maintained. Election officials said that no untoward incident was reported from anywhere of the 12 western Assam districts, bordering Bhutan, West Bengal and Arunachal Pradesh, where balloting is underway peacefully and smoothly.

Deshmukh row: CBI team to reach Mumbai Tuesday, record statements
A CBI source related to the development told IANS that "a half-dozen member team of CBI will visit Mumbai to initiate the probe". The source said that the team of CBI officers will record the statement of several officers of Mumbai Police including Singh, who made serious allegations against Deshmukh, who resigned earlier in the day.

The visit, which was intended to review the ongoing work of the Expressway in Haryana's Nuh district, was scheduled to take place on Thursday. "Due to the rising number of Covid-19 cases, media tours scheduled for April 8 and April 9 for inspection of sites by Nitin Gadkari on Delhi-Mumbai Expressway stands postponed," a district spokesperson said in a statement.
