CJI Chandrachud recuses from hearing contempt plea against comedian Kunal Kamra
As a bench headed by Chief Justice Chandrachud and Justice P.S. Narasimha took up the petitions seeking contempt action against Kamra, the Chief Justice said the matter will be placed before a bench, where he is not a part, because the comments (tweets) were made on the order, which he had passed. The top court listed the matter after two weeks. In 2020, Kamra had started tweeting, when the top court was hearing an appeal of Arnab Goswami against the Bombay High Court's order rejecting his plea for interim bail in a 2018 abetment-to-suicide case.
Air India confirms incident of passenger urinating on co-passenger's vacant seat, blanket
"The crew identified and isolated the offender and reported the incident to authorities. The aircraft was met on arrival at Indira Gandhi International Airport and the passenger taken into custody by CISF personnel," an airline spokesperson said. As the victim and the accused reached an understanding, the CISF allowed the accused to leave after he tendered a written apology. In deference to the victim's wishes, Air India did not lodge a police report, the spokesperson said. The incident - the second such on an Air India international flight - came out on Thursday.
