Indian Air Force contingent lands in Australia for Exercise 'Pitch Black 2022'

Being held for the first time since 2018 as the 2020 edition of the exercise, hosted by the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF), was cancelled due to the Covid pandemic, this year's exercise, with the focus on 'large force employment' warfare, will see over 100 aircraft and 2,500 military personnel from various air forces taking part, the Defence Ministry statement said.
Union Home Secretary Ajay Kumar Bhalla gets one-year extension

According to the order, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the one-year extension to Bhalla, whose term was ending on August 22. Bhalla, a 1984 batch IAS officer of the Assam-Meghalaya cadre, will now remain the Home Secretary till August 22, 2023.
'Computer, my personal phone seized': Sisodia after CBI raids

"Their (CBI) behaviour was good. They have not called me for any investigation yet. They have seized my computer and personal phone. They have also taken away some files," Sisodia said. "Me and my family has supported the probe agency. We have not done any wrongdoing and any corruption. That's why we are not afraid of anything," he added.
Excise policy row: Sisodia is accused No. 1 in CBI FIR

The FIR has been lodged under Sections 120-B (criminal conspiracy) and 477-A (falsification of accounts) of the Indian Penal Code. The allegations against Sisodia is that liquor businessmen were allegedly given exemption of Rs 30 crore, adn the licence holders were allegedly given extension as per their own will. The policy rules were made by violating the excise rules, the FIR said.

Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia is among the 15 accused named in the FIR lodged by the CBI in connection with alleged irregularities in Delhi's new excise policy. The CBI raid is still going on at 21 places in seven states in connection with the case where it is alleged that liquor businessmen were allegedly given exemption of Rs 30 crore, licence holders were allegedly given extension according to their own will, and the policy was made by violating excise rules.

India reports 15,754 fresh Covid cases, 47 deaths

In the Last 24 Hours, India has reported 47 more Covid deaths, taking the nationwide death toll to 5,27,253. The active caseload of the country stands at 1,01,830 cases, accounting for 0.23 per cent of the country's total positive cases.
CBI raids Manish Sisodia's house in excise policy case

A CBI team reached Sisodia's residence early in the morning. The probe teams were also raiding the houses of former Commissioner Excise E. Gopikrishan, two public servants and others. Sisodia claimed that he was innocent and the CBI was working at the behest of the Centre.
'Serious issue': SC on Dolo-650 makers spending Rs 1K cr as freebies on docs for prescribing tablet

Senior advocate Sanjay Parikh, representing Federation of Medical & Sales Representatives Association of India, contended before a bench headed by justice D.Y. Chandrachud that Dolo had invested Rs 1,000 core in freebies to have its anti-fever drug prescribed to patients. Justice Chandrachud said that it is a serious issue and even he was prescribed the same during Covid and said, "I was also asked to have the same when I had Covid." He added, "This is a serious issue and matter."
ED raids places linked to Mukhtar Ansari, his brother and aides

The raids were being held in Uttar Pradesh and Delhi. The ED was taking the help of paramilitary force personnel. Paramilitary personnel have been deployed outside the house of Afzal Ansari in Delhi's Ghazipur. As of now the ED has not given any official statement in this respect. Further details awaited.
