'Biased and inaccurate', India slams US religious panel report

Arindam Bagchi, spokespersons in the Ministry of External affairs, said that USCIRF continues to misrepresent facts time and again in its statements and reports in pursuance of its motivated agenda. He said that these comments reflect a severe lack of understanding of India and its constitutional framework, its plurality and its democratic ethos. "We have seen the biased and inaccurate comments on India by the US Commission on International Religious Freedom," said Bagchi in response to media queries on the comments on India made by the USCIRF.
Angry mob attack Udaipur murder accused outside court; hurls slippers, bottles

The accused were thrashed by the mob as well as lawyears who were waiting outside the court premises when the accused were being escorted by the police. A heavy police force was deployed outside the NIA court where a large group of people gathered and raised slogans when the accused were being brought out of the court. Earlier, the NIA court sent all the four accused, including prime accused Mohammad Riyaz and Ghouse Mohammad.
Amarinder Singh likely to be named NDA candidate for Vice President

Sources said that the NDA is likely to name the fromer Punjab Chief Minister as its candidate for the Vice President's post. "Several names are doing the rounds of which the prominent ones are Amarinder Singh, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Minority Affairs Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi. Chemist killed for supporting Nupur, NIA to probe case

The deceased, a chemist shop owner was allegedly killed for supporting Nupur Sharma. The murder took place on June 21. "The conspiracy behind the killing, involvement of organisations and international linkages would be thoroughly investigated," said MHA official. Kolhe was brutally murdered in Maharashtra after he wrote a post in support of Nupur Sharma on Facebook.
Delhi Court denies bail to Alt News co-founder Zubair, sends him to 14-day police custody

India logs 17,092 fresh Covid cases, 29 deaths

In the same period, 29 Covid deaths were recorded taking the nationwide death toll to 5,25,168. Meanwhile, the active caseload has also increased to 1,09,568, accounting for 0.25 per cent of total positive cases. The recovery of 14,684 patients in the last 24 hours took the cumulative tally to 4,28,51,590. Consequently, the recovery rate stands at 98.54 per cent.
ED grills Sena MP Sanjay Raut for 10 hrs in money-laundering probe

Statement of Nupur Sharma was recorded on June 18: Delhi Police

"A notice under Section 41A of the CrPc was served to Nupur Sharma and her statement was recorded as per the law on June 18," a senior Delhi Police officer told IANS. The police's reaction came hours after the Supreme Court came down heavily on the suspended BJP leader, saying that Sharma's 'loose tongue' has set the entire country 'on fire' and her 'irresponsible' remarks shows that she is 'obstinate and arrogant'.
