First cases of Omicron's B.A. 4, B.A.5 sub-variants detected in Maharashtra
A total of four infections caused by the BA.4 sub-strain of Omicron coronavirus variant, and three cases of BA.5 sub-strain have been detected. The cases of this subvariants have been reported in the state, days after the Indian SARS-CoV-2 Genomics Consortium (INSACOG) on Saturday confirmed cases with BA.4 and BA.5 variants in Tamil Nadu and Telangana for the first time in India.

Over 88% Indian adults fully vaccinated against Covid

In the same period, 33 Covid-related fatalities pushed the nationwide death toll to 5,24,572. Meanwhile, the active caseload rose reporting 16,308 cases, accounting for 0.04 per cent of the country's total positive cases. The recovery of 2,158 patients in the last 24 hours took the cumulative tally to 4,26,09,335. Consequently, the recovery rate stands at 98.75 per cent.

7 soldiers killed, 19 injured in Ladakh road accident
Seven soldiers were killed and 19 others injured in a road accident in Ladakh on Friday, defence sources said. According to the sources, 26 soldiers were injured in the road accident in Turtuk area of Ladakh. "Seven soldiers died on the spot while 19 others were injured. The injured soldiers have been airlifted to military hospital in Chandigarh," a defence source said.
