ASTRA MK-I BVR AAM has been indigenously designed and developed by Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) based on the staff requirements issued by the IAF catering for Beyond Visual Range as well as Close Combat Engagement reducing the dependency on foreign sources. Until now, the technology to manufacture missiles of this class indigenously was not available.
PM Modi assures fertiliser to Sri Lanka facing food crisis

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, in an affidavit, said: "It is submitted that in cases like the present wherein the matter concerning national security is involved, the petitioner company cannot insist upon strict compliance with principles of natural justice and the respondent is not bound to disclose the reasons for denial of security clearance to the petitioner company."
Rahul Gandhi seeks more time from ED in National Herald case

The ED has summoned both Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi to join the probe. Sonia Gandhi has been summoned on June 8 whereas Rahul Gandhi has been summoned on Thursday (June 2). Soon after receiving the summon, Rahul Gandhi wrote to the ED saying he won't be able to join the probe tomorrow (Thursday).
Indian communication satellite GSAT-24 under health checks in French Guiana

"As part of launch campaign activities, the satellite is presently undergoing health/ performance checks at clean room facilities in French Guiana. Launch on-board Ariane-V VA257 flight is scheduled for June 22, 2022," ISRO said on Wednesday. According to ISRO, the GSAT-24 satellite after completing assembly, integration and environmental tests was cleared by its pre-shipment review committee on May 2.
India reports 2,745 fresh Covid cases, 6 deaths

In the same period, six Covid fatalities were recorded, pushing the nationwide death toll to 5,24,636. Meanwhile, active caseload has slightly risen to 18,386 infections, accounting for 0.04 per cent of the country's total positive cases. With 2,236 patients getting cured of the contagion in the same time span, total number of recoveries reached 4,26,17,810. Consequently, India's recovery rate stands at 98.74 per cent.

Nearly 93,000 Pakistani troops surrendered and were held as Prisoners of War by India after the 13-day War. Though a large number of them, including officers, were involved in the genocide that took place in East Pakistan (now Bangladesh), not a single soldier was punished after the surrendered troops were returned to West Pakistan. That marks the difference between the armed forces of the two countries.
2022 may witness fourth consecutive year of normal monsoon: IMD

The 'normal' monsoon rainfall for the country, as a whole, would mean within a range of 96 to 104 per cent of the LPA, which is 87 cm or 870 mm. The IMD had, this April, introduced the new LPA, the new rainfall normal based on rainfall data from 1971-2020 for the southwest monsoon season, replacing the till then used rainfall normal that was based on data from 1961-2010.
India, China hold 24th meeting of working mechanism on border affairs

Oxford University cancelled my programme, says Vivek Agnihotri

Sharing a video message in a tweet, Agnihotri wrote: "Yet another Hindu voice is curbed at HINDUPHOBIC @OxfordUnion. They have cancelled me. In reality, they cancelled Hindu Genocide & Hindu students who are a minority at Oxford Univ". Alleging that the President-elect of the Union is a Pakistani, he appealed to everyone to "share and support in this most difficult fight".
