Gangs of Punjab: Militants, drug smugglers, gangs work in tandem to terrorise state
As per media reports, now the terrorists' angle is coming into the stunning hit job on Punjabi singing superstar Sidhu Moosewala's murder. Sidhu Moosewala was said to have been shot dead by gangsters on May 29 in Jawaharke village in a gruesome daylights assassination. Canada-based gangster Goldy Brar from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang claimed responsibility for the murder.
India reports 3,962 fresh Covid cases, 26 deaths
In the same period, the country reported 26 new Covid fatalities, taking the nationwide death toll to 5,24,677. The active caseload of the country also increased to 22,416 cases, accounting for 0.05 per cent of the country's total positive cases. The recovery of 2,697 patients in the last 24 hours took the cumulative tally to 4,26,25,454. Consequently, India's recovery rate stands at 98.73 per cent.
Hizbul terrorist commander killed in encounter at Anantnag
"Terrorist Commander of proscribed terror outfit HM Nisar Khanday killed. Incriminating materials, arms and ammunition including one AK 47 rifle recovered. Operation in progress," Jammu and Kashmir Police quoting Inspector General Police Kashmir zone Vijay Kumar tweeted.

Moosewala, 28, was shot dead on May 29 while he was travelling in a car and around a dozen assailants fired over 30 shots at him. He was taken to hospital where doctors declared him 'brought dead'. The Singer's autopsy report revealed that his body bore 19 bullet injury marks. "He confessed that his gang is responsible for the killing (Moosewala's murder) but also said he was not directly behind it as he is lodged in jail.

The recovery of 2,363 patients in the last 24 hours took the cumulative tally to 4,26,22,757. Consequently, India's recovery rate stands at 98.74 per cent. While the daily positivity rate reported a spike of 0.95 per cent, the weekly positivity rate stood at 0.73 per cent.

Terrorists kill non-local rural bank manager in Jammu and Kashmir's Kulgam
Police sources said the terrorists shot and critically injured the manager, identified as Vijay Kumar of Rajasthan. Kumar was working as the manager of a regional rural bank (Ellaquai Dehati Bank) in Areah village branch of Kulgam district. He was attacked in the morning as he was entering the bank branch, said police sources. "He was shifted to a hospital where doctors said he was dead on arrival.
