Sitharaman reiterates call for tech & fund transfer on climate, commitment to fighting terror funding
Sitharaman on Thursday emphasised both the "importance of the multilateral approach to combat climate change and the importance of transfer of climate finance and low-cost technologies from developed to developing countries", the ministry of finance posted on Twitter. India has long argued that developing countries urgently need climate finance and transfer of low-cost technology to enable them to do their bit to combat global warming and developed countries must bear larger responsibility.
New Omicron sub-variant seen behind surge in Delhi's Covid cases
According to a source from Indian SARS-CoV-2 Genomics Consortium (INSACOG), Omicron sub-lineage BA.2.12 was detected in several samples sequenced from the national capital. The source said that some other sub-variants have also been found that could be the reason behind the surge in the city.
Processed Japan's request seeking over flight clearance: India
Replying to a media query in the weekly briefing here, MEA spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said: "We had also received a request for over-flight clearance for Japanese SDF (Self-Defense Force) aircraft carrying humanitarian cargo for Ukraine. This was processed and approved as per established norms."
ED submits voluminous charge sheet against Minister Nawab Malik
The charge sheet has been submitted to the Special PMLA Court registry and after scrutiny of the documents, the court will take cognisance. Malik, 69, was arrested on February 23 by ED sleuths from his Mumbai home and is currently in judicial custody for nearly 60 days now.

India reports 2,380 fresh Covid cases, 56 deaths
In the same period, there were 56 additional Covid-19 fatalities which increased the nationwide death toll to 522,062. Meanwhile, the country's active caseload has increased to 13,433, accounting for 0.03 per cent of the total positive cases. Another 1,231 patients recovered in the last 24 hours, taking the cumulative tally to 4,25,14,479. Consequently, India's recovery rate stands at 98.76 per cent.
OneWeb to launch satellites with ISRO rockets
In a statement, OneWeb, a joint venture between India Bharti Global and the UK government, said an agreement to this effect has been signed with NewSpace India Ltd, the ISRO's commercial arm. The agreement will help ensure OneWeb completes its satellite launch programme, the company said. The first launch with New Space India is anticipated in 2022 from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC) SHAR, Sriharikota.
14 CRPF companies deployed in Delhi in wake of Jahangirpuri violence
According to the officials, these companies - comprising six of the Rapid Action Force, six of the general duty branch and two Mahila companies - have been attached with Delhi Police to assist them in maintaining the law and order situation and the Delhi Police has deployed them, as per their need. They said that the companies are sent to the local authorities on their request for assisting them to deal with law and order situations.

Trivedi said: "Since, Section 376A IPC is also applicable to the facts of the case, considering the gravity and seriousness of the offence, the sentence of imprisonment for the remainder of appellant's natural life would have been an appropriate sentence... however, we are reminded of what Oscar Wilde has said - The only difference between the saint and the sinner is that every saint has a past and every sinner has a future."
