PM to confer awards for excellence in public administration on Civil Services Day

The Prime Minister Modi will confer the award at a function in Vigyan Bhawan. He will also address the civil servants during the event. In a statement, the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) said that the Prime Minister's Awards for Excellence in Public Administration have been instituted with a view to recognise the extraordinary and innovative work done by Districts/implementing units and Central/State organisations for the welfare of common citizens.
Sitharaman raises fears cryptocurrency could be used to fund terror

"I think the biggest risk for all countries across the board will be on the money laundering aspect and also on the aspect of currency being used for financing terror," Sitharaman said at a seminar hosted by the International Monetary Fund (IMF). The Finance Minister is in Washington DC for the Spring Meetings of the World Bank group.
Every second Covid case in national tally reported from Delhi

Delhi reported 632 fresh Covid infections on Tuesday, which is more than half of the national Covid caseload. According to the Health Ministry data, a total of 1,247 Covid cases were reported from across the nation on Tuesday. Out of that, 632 cases have been reported from Delhi alone, as per the daily health bulletin issued by the Delhi government.
Prime Minister Modi set to take a giant step to achieve Mission Kashmir

Modi is known to have toured Kashmir in the thick of militancy in 1990-94. According to the local BJP leaders, he visited all the valley's six districts in 1993 when most of the mainstream politicians had resigned under the fear and diktat of gun. Former Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah had escaped to London. Several of his ex-Ministers and MLAs had been killed by terrorists and others with exceptions like Aga Syed Mehmood.
European Commission president to be in India on April 24-25

According to the MEA statement, this will be her first visit to India as the President of the European Commission. She is expected to hold bilateral talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Leyen will also meet President Ram Nath Kovind and other dignitaries.
India sees sharp decline in Covid cases, records 1,247 fresh infections

In the same period, one Covid fatality was recorded, taking the death toll to 521,966. Meanwhile, active caseload has risen to 11,860 which is 0.03 per cent of the country's total positive cases. A total of 928 patients have recovered in the same time span and the cumulative tally of recovered patients since the beginning of the pandemic is now at 4,25,11,701. Consequently, India's recovery rate stands at 98.76 per cent.

Centre announces merger of Delhi's civic bodies

"Upon the completion of each census after the establishment of the Corporation, the number of seats shall be on the basis of the population of Delhi as ascertained at that census and shall be determined by the central government by notification in the Official Gazette and the number of seats to be reserved for the members of the Scheduled Castes shall, as nearly as may be, bear the same ratio to the total number of seats" the Law Ministry's notification read.
Indian job market shows 6% YoY growth post Covid slump: Report

The Monster Employment Index (MEI) showed online recruitment activity exceeded the year-ago level in 11 out of the 13 cities monitored by the index. All metros registered a double-digit growth on an annual basis. Mumbai (up 21 per cent) continued to be the biggest job market, closely followed by Coimbatore (up 20 per cent), and Chennai and Hyderabad (up 16 per cent each).
India designates Jaish militant Ashiq Ahmed Nengroo as terrorist

According to a gazette notification issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Saturday, Nengroo was involved in infiltration of terrorists into Jammu and Kashmir, who were responsible for various terror attacks in the Valley. Nengroo has been running a terror syndicate in Kashmir and he is presently engaged in a perilous campaign to orchestrate terror in J&K, remote controlled from Pakistan, the notification read.
