Indian Air Force exits from Exercise Cobra Warrior in UK

Amidst ongoing Russia-Ukraine War, the Indian Air Force has decided not to deploy its aircraft for Exercise Cobra Warrior 2022 in the United Kingdom.Indian made Light Combat Aircraft Tejas was expected to participate in the military exercise, its debut in overseas war games. In a statement, Indian Air Force said: "In light of the recent events, IAF has decided not to deploy its aircraft for Exercise Cobra Warrior 2022 in UK."
First batch of Ukraine evacuees reaching Mumbai today

Union Minister for Textiles Piyush Goyal is likely to receive them at the airport, along with other officials. The CSMIA has geared itself to handle the evacuees reaching here by AI-1944 with a special corridor and all necessary facilities. As per Centre's guidelines, all the students shall undergo a mandatory temperature check and will be required to produce a Covid-19 vaccination certification or a negative RT-PCR report on landing.

In a latest advisory by the Indian Embassy in Ukraine, Indian citizens in the war-torn country were on Saturday advised not to move to any of the border posts without prior coordination with the Indian government. The armed conflict between Russia and Ukraine intensified in the early hours of Thursday after Russian forces launched a major assault on Ukraine, firing missiles on cities and military installations.

Amid conflict between Ukraine and Russia, the government has stepped up the evacuation process of Indians stranded in the war-torn country, mostly students. The Ministry of External Affairs said on Friday that the first batch of evacuees from the war-hit nation has reached Romania via the Suceava border crossing.
Rescue Ops: Air India to mount flights to Romania, Hungary

Romania and Hungary share land borders with Ukraine. Many Indian nationals, including students, have made their way into these countries from Ukraine. Air India will operate two flights, one each from Delhi and Mumbai, to Bucharest (Romania) and Budapest (Hungary) on Saturday as special government charter flights. These flights will be operated on Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft which have a capacity of 254 passengers per plane.

The minister also stated that they discussed the predicament of Indian nationals, including students. "Appreciate his support for their safe return," Jaishankar said.

Apart from them, few more officials have been moved. India is working out evacuation plans for Indian nationals stranded in Ukraine through Romania, Hungary and Poland.

It also told the Indian nationals and students to carry passport, cash, preferably dollars, for any emergency expenses, and other essentials. The embassy has asked stranded Indians to move towards border check posts Poland, Romania and Hungary as camps have been set up for immediate evacuation from there. In the meantime, the Indian Air Force has been ready to airlift stranded nationals in Ukraine along with commercial aircraft.

The Indian Embassy in Kiev stated that the helpline numbers are being set up at the respective check-points to facilitate evacuation through the borders. "The numbers would be shared once the control rooms are established," the Embassy stated. These control rooms will be based in Poland, Romania and Hungary and they will be managed by the Indian officials posted in those countries.
