Centre notifies appointment of four new judges in Delhi High Court
A notification from the Ministry of Law and Justice said that Neena Bansal Krishna, Dinesh Kumar Sharma, Anoop Kumar Mendiratta, and Sudhir Kumar Jain will assume charge of their respective offices as Judges of the High Court. Sudhir Kumar Jain is currently serving as the district and sessions judge at the Rouse Avenue Court while Neena Bansal Krishna was holding the office of the Principal District and Sessions Judge at Saket (South East) District Court.
Delhi to lift all Covid curbs from Monday, only physical classes from April 1
As per the new DDMA guidelines, all online classes will be discontinued from April 1 in the city in view of the declining Covid trends. Schools have to do away with the hybrid mode from April 1. All restrictions are likely to be lifted from April 1. The decision was taken in a DDMA meet chaired by Lt Governor Anil Baijal, and attended by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
'Our lives are in danger': Bihar student's appeal for evacuation from Ukraine
The student, Ankit Kumar Shah, is a native of Barari block in Katihar. He has put out a video seeking immediate help from the Indian govt. In the video, he says that many students like him could not return home due to expensive air tickets. Ankit also mentions that they are trapped in war zone. He says the Russian armed forces are advancing in the Ukrainian capital Kyiv and explosions can be heard frequently in region where he is staying.
'Legal or illegal', SC asks Centre to make its stand clear on Bitcoins
The Supreme Court on Friday asked the Centre to make its stand clear on Bitcoins. Currently, there is no regulation or any ban on the use of cryptocurrencies in the country. A bench comprising Justices D.Y. Chandrachud and Surya Kant told the additional solicitor general (ASG) Aishwarya Bhati, "You have to make your stand clear." The bench was hearing a plea by Ajay Bhardwaj against the Union of India. Bhati submitted before the bench that this case involves 87,000 Bitcoins and the accused is not cooperating with the investigation, and multiple summons have been issued so far.
Closure of Ukraine's airspace not to impact India's flight ops to Europe, North America
At present, some India-based airlines, including Air India, operate flights to Europe and North America. But these flight operations do not use the conflicted airspace over Ukraine much. Consequently, hardly any impact is expected to be witnessed on out-bound flights from India to Western Europe. Besides, Air India will not operate its special flights to Kiev anymore after a NOTAM (Notice to Airmen) was issued about the closure of airspace over Ukraine.
India's vaccine coverage very impressive: Bill Gates
Microsoft Co-founder and Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Co-chair Bill Gates was all praise for India for development, manufacturing and distribution of Covid-19 vaccines and termed the country's vaccine coverage as "very impressive". He said that the Gates Foundation is working with its partners in India not just for Covid vaccines but using new platforms like mRNA to make vaccines for diseases like HIV, tuberculosis, and malaria.
IAF ready to airlift stranded Indians from Ukraine: MEA
"Ministry of External Affairs is in touch with the Ministry of Defence. We have told them that we will need provisions for airlift. In that case, the IAF can go along with commercial aircraft... All options are on the table," said Shringla. He also said that India's topmost priority is the safety and security of Indian nationals and their evacuation. He also stated that flight options are available through Dubai and Istanbul.

Ukraine crisis: PM Modi chairs meeting of Cabinet Committee on Security
Sources said that PM Modi is likely to speak to Russian President Vladimir Putin while External Affairs Minister Dr S. Jaishankar is expected to speak to his Ukrainian counterpart Dmytro Kuleba. Though the outcome of the meeting was not shared, it is assumed that Prime Minister Modi was briefed about the present situation in Ukraine and also about the Indians including students who have been stuck there.
