ISRO helping send man 6,000 metres deep into ocean

Under the 'Deep Ocean Mission' launched by the government, a manned scientific submersible has been proposed to be developed for deep ocean exploration and the project is named 'Samudrayaan', Science and Technology and Earth Sciences Minister, Dr Jitendra Singh told Rajya Sabha in a written reply. The National Institute of Ocean Technology, an autonomous Institute under the Ministry of Earth Sciences, had earlier developed and tested a "personnel sphere" for a manned submersible system for 500 metre water depth rating, he said.
'Major cities turned into slums': SC seeks action against encroachments

A bench headed by Justice A.M. Khanwilkar emphasised that local governments should wake up and take actions to prevent encroachments. The bench, also comprising Justices Dinesh Maheshwari and C.T. Ravikumar orally observed that all major cities have turned into slums and added that Chandigarh might be an exception but there are problems in Chandigarh as well. "Happening everywhere... Let us rise to reality and think how the problem has to be resolved," it observed.

The committee made multiple suggestions on several issues including the winter clothing for troops,  infrastructure projects by Border Roads Organisation (BRO), and the carrier requirements at the coastlines. The government has said that the requirement of the third Aircraft Carrier will be worked on but no specified timeline has been given, as per the report.
3 killed, several injured in blast at Gujarat chemical factory

The blast occurred in the Gujarat Fluorochemicals Limited (GFL) factory in the Ranjitnagar locality of Ghoghamba town. District Collector Sujal Mayatra said, "Three workers have died. The firefighters have doused the fire and the factory building has been cleared. No other body has been found there." Mayatra informed that out of the 15 workers who were injured, the condition of two is stated to be critical.

While framing charges against 10 men in 2020 Delhi riots case, a Delhi court on Thursday observed that their objective was to create fear amongst the Hindu community, threaten them to leave the country and to loot their properties as well. The Delhi riots broke out in the national capital during President Donald Trump's India visit and it led to loss of more than 50 lives. These riots tooks  in the backdrop of anti-CAA protests that were going on in Shaheen Bagh and other places of East Delhi . More than 750 cases were registered in connection with these riots.
Bangladesh to import defence equipments from India under $500-million LoC

The foreign secretary was talking to media persons after visiting Indian President Ram Nath Kovind held delegation-level talks with Bangladesh's top leadership in Dhaka. Harsh Vardhan Shringla said that both neighbours are bound by history and culture. He also said that President Kovind held defence-related talks with Bangladesh's top leadership.

During her visit,  Florence Parly will hold extensive talks with her counterpart Rajnath Singh, according to the French embassy in New Delhi. Soldier killed in 'mysterious firing' in Jammu & Kashmir's Poonch

Police sources said the soldier has been identified as Subedar Jungveer Singh, who was posted on a forward post on LoC in Balakote area, where he sustained a bullet injury and died.
Shooter who was gifted rifle by Sonu Sood commits suicide

Earlier this year, Konica was gifted a German-manufactured rifle by actor Sonu Sood after he was briefed about her struggles. Sood had gifted her the rifle so she could take part in the Nationals and other competitions. "Sonu Sood sir, my rifle is here. There is a wave of happiness in my family and the entire village is blessing you. May you live long," an elated Layak had tweeted after receiving the gun amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
