Delhi reports second case of Omicron variant

As per Delhi government sources, the person -- fully vaccinated, came from Zimbabwe and had travelled to South Africa. The B.1.1.529 variant was first reported to World Health Organization (WHO) from South Africa on November 24, 2021. The first patient to have tested positive for Omicron in Delhi is a resident of Ranchi and had travelled from Tanzania to Doha and from there to Delhi on a Qatar Airways flight on December 2.
Farmers vacate Delhi borders, start leaving for home

The farmers will take out victory march to celebrate their success of repeal of the farm laws. At the spot, farmers can be seen removing bamboo sticks used for erecting and tying tarpaulins and loading them in tractors. They hugged each other and bade good bye. The Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) decided to suspend their agitation after the government repealed the contentious laws and assured them to fulfill their rest of the demands.
India logs 7,992 new Covid cases, 393 death

The new fatalities have increased the overall death toll to 4,75,128. The recovery of 9,265 patients in the same period has increased the cumulative tally to 3,41,14,331. Consequently, India's recovery rate stands at 98.36 per cent, the highest since March 2020. India's active caseload presently stands at 93,277, which is the lowest in 559 days. Active cases account for 0.27 per cent of the country's total positive cases.
Delhi's minimum temperature drops to 9 degrees

From Sunday onwards, the minimum temperature for the entire week will fluctuate between 7 to 8 degrees, while the maximum will remain 23 or 24 degrees, the IMD said. Meanwhile, Saturday's maximum temperature has been pegged at 24 degrees. The relative humidity at 8.30 a.m. was recorded at 87 per cent.
At minus 3.6, Srinagar records coldest night of season so far

An official of the MeT department said Srinagar city witnessed the coldest night of the season so far. Pahalgam had minus 6.4 and Gulmarg minus 5.5 degrees Celsius as the night's lowest temperature. Drass town of Ladakh had minus 18.0, Leh minus 14.6 and Kargil minus 10.6 degrees Celsius as the minimum.
Need to create tech-enabled emergency care system: NITI Aayog

India reported 1.77 lakh dengue, 237 Zika virus cases in 2021

"Zika virus cases have been reported from four states -- Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Kerala and Delhi -- in 2021. Among these, Uttar Pradesh has reported maximum cases. A total of 8,627 samples were tested of which 152 were found positive, amounting to a positivity rate of 1.7 per cent," Mandaviya said in a written reply to a query in the Lok Sabha.
Spirit and ethos among citizens basic strength of democracy: Modi
