14 Opposition parties to boycott Constitution Day function in Parliament
Congress spokesperson Jaiveer Shergill said, "Post Independence many all over the world predicted that Indian democracy will not survive & yet here we are because of the Constitution which binds us "we the people of India"; no one should ever be allowed to dilute, weaken or fail our Constitution." Not only the Congress but the NCP too decided to boycott the function. Majeed Memon of the NCP said, "BJP leaders want to celebrate Constitution Day in Central Hall with all solemnity and respect to the Constitution of India. It is a mockery to do so when they don't follow it on the ground."
President Kovind, Shah, Rajnath remember bravehearts of 26/11 terror attacks
"My heartfelt tributes to the martyrs and homage to the victims of the 26/11 #MumbaiTerrorAttacks. The nation will always be grateful for the bravery and sacrifice of the security forces who laid down their lives in the line of duty," President Kovind tweeted. Paying homage to the heroes, Shah tweeted in Hindi: "I pay tributes to the martyrs of the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks who faced the terrorists valiantly. The entire country will be proud of their valour and remain indebted for their sacrifice."
India willing to supply Covishield and Covaxin to other countries: Mandaviya
Union Health Minister Mandaviya said, "India is driven by the philosophy of 'Vasudaiva Kutumbakam' which has inspired us to gift COVID-19 vaccines, HCQs and other medical necessities to all our friends. Further, India is willing to supply Covishield and Covaxin to all the countries." Mandaviya in his address underlined the need to strengthen the public health system to fight outbreaks in the future.
India logs 10,549 fresh Covid cases, 488 deaths in last 24 hours
With the new fatalities, the nationwide death toll now stands at 4,67,468. The recovery of 9,868 patients in the last 24 hours has increased the cumulative tally to 3,39,77,830. Consequently, India's recovery rate stands at 98.33 per cent, the highest since March 2020. The active caseload stands at 1,10,133. Active cases presently constitute 0.32 per cent of the country's total positive cases, the lowest since March 2020.

Country will not be 'divided' again: Mohan Bhagwat
Launching a book - "Vibhajankaleen Bharat Ke Sakshi" (The Witness of Partition India) - written by Krishnanand Sagar in Noida, the Sangh chief said that this is India of 2021, not 1947. Once the country has been divided and now it will not be divided again. Bhagwat also advocated for the 'Akhand Bharat' (united India). He termed the partition is an unforgettable event and asserted that the pain of division will only end when the partition would be revoked.
Centre warns states against new Covid variant found in South Africa
In a letter to the states, Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan said, "It has now been reported by NCDC that multiple cases of a Covid-19 variant -- 8.1.1529 -- have been reported in Botswana (three), South Africa (six) and Hong Kong (one). This variant is reported to have a significantly high number of mutations, and thus has serious public health implications for the country in view of the recently relaxed visa restrictions and opening up of international travel.
Farmers' protest to continue for MSP, other issues: Tikait
He said though the Central government has announced repeal of three farm laws, the farmers' problems will not come to an end with this as the government is trying to bring in various anti-farmer laws. Tikait was addressing 'Maha Dharna' organised by All India Kisan Sangharsh Coordination Committee (AIKSCC)-Telangana unit in Hyderabad to mark one year of the countrywide agitation by the famers against the three agri laws.

'Proclaimed Offender' Param Bir Singh reaches Mumbai, joins probe
Ex-Police Commissioner of Mumbai, Param Bir Singh, who informed the media on Wednesday that he was in Chandigarh, went to the Crime Branch Unit 11 at Kandivali Police Station to join the probe as directed by the Supreme Court. "I am joining the investigation as directed by the court," Singh told the media after his arrival. The IPS officer, who was 'untraceable' since last May, is facing at least 5 extortion cases and a government-appointed panel probe here.
