PM Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of the UP's fifth international airport in at Jewar. This greenfield airport will be India's first pollution-free. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya, Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, Union Ministers Sanjeev Balyan, S.P. Singh Baghel, former Union Minister and Noida MP, Mahesh Sharma, were present on the occasion among others.

Results provide evidence for effectiveness: Bharat Biotech on Covaxin study

Reacting to a real-world assessment, which said that Covaxin is 50 per cent effective against symptomatic Covid-19, Bharat Biotech said, "These results provide evidence for effectiveness for Covaxin in real life settings." The vaccine manufacturer said, "Bharat Biotech commends the investigators from AIIMS on the BBV152 study published in Lancet Infectious Diseases."
India logs 9,119 fresh Covid cases, 396 deaths in 24 hrs

The recovery of 10,264 patients during the same period has increased the cumulative tally to 3,39,67,962. Consequently, the recovery rate stands at 98.33 per cent, highest since March 2020. Currently, the active caseload stands at 1,09,940 constituting 0.32 per cent of the country's total positive cases, the lowest since March 2020. Also in the same period, a total of 11,50,538 tests were conducted. India has so far conducted over 63.59 crore cumulative tests.

Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana extended till March 2022

The scheme envisages five kg grain per person per month free of cost for all the beneficiaries covered under the National Food Security Act (NFSA) (Antyodaya Anna Yojana & Priority Households), including those covered under Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). Union Minister Anurag Singh Thakur, while announcing the cabinet decision on Wednesday, claimed that India is perhaps the only country in the world that provided free food grains for 15 months to 80 crore people.
Only residents can appear in Assam civil service exams: CM

The decision was taken by the Assam cabinet, in its meeting chaired by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. Addressing the media after the cabinet meeting, Sarma said that earlier knowing Assamese was mandatory for the candidates to appear in the APSC and ACS exams but it seems to create some confusion for the students of Assam who studied in English medium. Therefore, the state cabinet has taken the decision to withdraw the language paper for the test conducted for APSC and ACS, he said.
12 Cong MLAs in Meghalaya join Trinamool Congress

Trinamool Congress's Rajya Sabha Member Sushmita Dev and a close associate of Sangma separately told IANS that the opposition leader along with 11 other Congress MLAs have joined the Trinamool Congress on late Wednesday night. Of the 12 Congress legislators who joined the Trinamool, eight MLAs are from Garo Hills, while four lawmakers are from Khasi Jaintia hills.
Mamata urges Modi to withdraw extension of BSF's jurisdiction in Bengal

The Trinamool Congress supremo also invited the Prime Minister to inaugurate the Bengal Global Business Summit scheduled in April next year. The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) recently extended the jurisdiction of BSF up to 50 km inside the international borders in West Bengal, Punjab and Assam. The West Bengal Assembly had on November 16 passed a resolution against the Centre's decision.
Top TRF commander among 3 terrorists killed in Srinagar encounter

Director General of Police Dilbag Singh told IANS that TRF terrorist commander Mehran was among those killed in the encounter. He was responsible for the killing of School Principal Supinder Kaur and her colleague Deepak Chand in the school premises at Eidgah, Srinagar on October 7. The encounter between terrorists and security forces took place after an operation was launched on the basis of specific information about presence of terrorists.
