India Pavilion named 'One of the Most Iconic' at Expo Dubai 2020

More than 190 pavilions are participating in the six-month long event being held in Dubai but the Indian pavilion remains one of the most popular corners, having recorded 350,000 visitors in less than 50 days of its inauguration on October 1. The external facade of the India Pavilion is made of 600 individual colourful blocks and is capable of kinetic movements symbolising the theme - India on the move.
UP tops nation in air connectivity; 5 int'l airports 1st for any state

In perspective, the state had only two international airports since 2012 when Varanasi got this distinction after Lucknow. The international airport at Kushinagar became operational after it was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on October 20, 2021, while work on the international airport in Ayodhya is on full swing and air services are expected to start early next year.

Terming his Punjab counterpart Charanjit Channi, a "fake" Kejriwal, the Delhi Chief Minister said this was the world's biggest women empowerment programme. Jagan Mohan Reddy told the state Assembly that the decision was taken to protect the larger public interest and that the government will come to the house with a comprehensive legislation, taking into consideration the concerns of all. The Assembly passed Andhra Pradesh Decentralisation and Inclusive Development of All Regions Bill 2021 with a voice vote after the chief minister made a brief statement.
Grenade blast near army camp in Pathankot

No one was injured in the explosion. Police reached the spot and recovered parts of the grenade. Senior Superintendent of Police Surendra Lamba told the media that investigation was underway and CCTV footage from the spot has been obtained. It is believed that motorcyclists lobbed the grenade in front of the Triveni gate of the army cantonment.
India logs 8,488 new Covid cases, lowest in 538 days

Also in the same period, 249 people succumbed to the virus, which increased the overall nationwide death toll to 4,65,911. The recovery of 12,510 patients has increased the cumulative tally to 3,39,34,547. Consequently, India's recovery rate stands at 98.31 per cent, the highest since March 2020. The active caseload stands at 1,18,443. Active cases presently constitute 0.34 per cent of the country's total positive cases, the lowest since March 2020.
Modi suggests setting up High-Power Police Technology Mission

Addressing the 56th DGsP/IGsP Conference in Lucknow, Modi called for constituting the High-Power Police Technology Mission, to adopt future technologies for grass root policing requirements and suggested development of inter-operable technologies, which would benefit police forces across the country. The Prime Minister gave examples of CoWIN, GeM and UPI as he cited the importance of technology in the lives of the general public.

AIMPLB seeks law against blasphemy, opposes Uniform Civil Code

Maulana Saifullah Rahmani, General Secretary of the AIMPLB, said the board, at a meeting in Kanpur, suggested that the law should cover all religions in the country to protect revered figures, religions and religious beliefs from malicious attempts. The board also said that the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) was neither suitable nor useful for a vast multi-religious country like India, adding that it was antithetical to the fundamental right to practice religion as enshrined in the Constitution.
