India reports 10,229 fresh Covid cases, 125 deaths
With the addition of 125 new deaths, the death toll has climbed to 4,63,655. The recovery of 11,926 patients in the last 24 hours has increased the cumulative tally to 3,38,49,785. Consequently, India's recovery rate stands at 98.26 per cent, highest since March 2020. The active caseload stands at 1,34,096, lowest in the last 523 days. Active cases presently constitute 0.39 per cent of the country's total positive cases, the lowest since March 2020.
Government prioritising border fencing with Myanmar to check infiltration: Manipur CM N.Biren Singh
N. Biren also said that the Union Home Ministry had already started fencing along the India-Myanmar border in Manipur which is around 400-km-long. However, the process was halted in some areas due to land disputes but it continued elsewhere.
Two journalists held for spreading hatred in Tripura
A Tripura police spokesman said the journalists -- Samriddhi K. Sakunia and Swarna Jha, have been detained by Nilam Bazaar police station of Karimganj district in Assam on the request of the Tripura police. A Tripura police team would to bring them to the state.
Professor Sudhir Jain is new BHU vice-chancellor
The BHU registrar office has confirmed the appointment of Prof Jain as the vice-chancellor for a term of three years or until he attains the age of 70 years, whichever is earlier. BHU spokesman Rajesh Singh said Prof Jain will assume charge as 28th vice-chancellor of the university.

In an affidavit, the Delhi government said: "GNCTD is ready to take steps like complete lockdown to control local emissions. However, such a step would be meaningful if it is implemented across the NCR areas in neighbouring states. Given Delhi's compact size, a lockdown would have limited impact on the air quality regime".

With the new infections, the total covid-19 case tally has increased to 14,40,424 and the new fatality has taken the death toll to 25,094. Delhi's covid infection rate stands at 0.07 per cent, and the death rate at 1.74 per cent.
