The police said the incident took place at around 11 a.m. near Sehken village, as the heavily armed suspected People's Liberation Army (PLA) militants fired upon the convoy of Assam Rifles Colonel Viplav Tripathi, killing him, his wife, their 9-year-old son, three Quick Reaction Team (QRT) jawans and the driver on the spot.

Chandrachud and Surya Kant told Solicitor General Tushar Mehta that it needs a solution to stop stubble burning and also effective measures to control it. Mehta, who was elaborating on the steps taken by the air quality management commission to abate air pollution in NCR and the adjoining areas, replied that he never intended to say that only farmers were responsible for pollution.

Delhi on Saturday observed a clear sky with shallow fog. The maximum and minimum temperatures for the day will be at 26 degrees Celsius and 11 degrees, respectively, as per IMD officials. The relative humidity at 8.30 a.m. was recorded at 90 per cent.

India registered 11,850 new covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, according to the latest update of the Union Health Ministry on Saturday. 555 deaths were recorded in the last 24 hours which elevated the nationwide Covid death toll to 4,63,245. The 12,403 recovered patients in the past 24 hours increased the cumulative tally of recovered to 3,38,26,483.

Srinagar's minimum temperature dips to 0.1 degree, city records coldest night of this season

Ladakh's Drass town remained frozen as the temperature dipped to minus 12.7 degrees, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Saturday. The minimum temperature in Srinagar was 0.7 degrees on Friday and it dropped down to 0.1 degree on Saturday, the IMD official said.

The 5 states including Manipur, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab and Goa will go for the assembly elections early in 2022. 57.5 percent voters in Manipur and 50.1 percent in Uttarakhand chose Modi as the best PM candidate followed by Uttar Pradesh with 44.4 percent. In Goa 36.1 voters chose Modi as the first choice candidate whereas Punjab at 14.3 percent is the state with least no. of voters who wants Modi as the PM.
