India reports 30,773 new Covid cases, 309 deaths

With the new fatalities, the country's cumulative death toll increased to 4,44,838. The fatality rate has remained at 1.33 per cent for the last few days.
After Punjab drama, Raj CM's OSD resigns over his tweet

Lokesh Sharma on Saturday night sent his resignation to the Chief Minister explaining the background of the tweet and said that it is up to the CM to accept it or reject it. His tweet said, "Majboot ko Majboor, Mamooli ko Magroor kiya jaye, baad hi khet to khaye, us fasal to kaun bachaye. (When the strong is forced down and the minor is made to feel proud; when the fence eats the field, who will save that crop)"
Ambika Soni declines to become Punjab CM, suggests a Sikh for the post

After the refusal, the Congress which wanted Ambika to become the CM after Amarinder Singh resigned, the party is now considering other names, including Pratap Singh Bajwa, Sukhwinder Singh Randhawa and Ravneet Singh Bittu. Earlier, the party had decided to appoint Sunil Jhakhar as the Chief Minister, but now the party leadership is having second thoughts on his name.

Kolkata safest city among metros: NCRB report

According to the latest report published by the NCRB, Delhi recorded the highest cognizable offences with a crime rate of 1,506.9 per one lakh population followed by Chennai that recorded a rate of 1,016.4. When the other two metropolitan cities like Mumbai and Bengaluru recorded a rate of 272.4 and 234.9, Kolkata has a crime rate of 109.9 in cognizable offences. Not only among the metros but the city recorded the lowest crime rate among the 19 major cities of the country.
Delhi wakes up to clear sky on Sunday

The maximum temperature is expected at 35 degrees Celsius and the minimum at 26 degrees Celsius. Since September 1, Delhi has been witnessing light to moderate rain in regular intervals, however, there has been no downpour in the last 24 hours. According to the IMD, it was only at Aya Nagar that rainfall of 0.2 mm was recorded in the last 24 hours, while other observatories did not record any.

Sources in the party indicated that Ghosh had to make the sacrifice only to make way for the former BJP union minister.
