Rajnath lauds Army's tough terrain expedition in Himalayan region

During the expedition, the team travelled through several high altitude passes, glaciers, valleys and rivers. The team also interacted with the local population in the far-flung areas. It was able to gather detailed information about several hitherto unchartered areas along the international boundary as well as the hinterland. Rajnath Singh also commended the courage, dedication and spirit of the armed forces and expressed satisfaction that the safety and security of the country is in safe hands.
Exiled Tibetans ask China to resume dialogue

XI's visit to the Tibet Autonomous Region (TAR) on July 21-22 was the first since his taking charge as Chinese President in 2013. Additional Secretary and CTA spokesperson Tenzin Lekshay said: "The Chinese President Xi Jinping visited Lhasa and Nyingtri with great pomposity. I think this is his first visit to Tibet as President."
Delhi reports 58 new Covid cases, one death

The national capital's daily test positivity rate stood at 0.9 per cent, the bulletin said. On a positive note, 69 people recovered from the disease in the last 24 hours, taking the national capital's total number of recoveries to 14,10,164. With one death getting reported on Friday, Delhi's overall Covid death toll rose to 25,041.

In a written reply in the Rajya Sabha, Union Minister of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Dharmendra Pradhan said, "The pilot scheme is being implemented in 10 States and two Union Territories including the State of Uttarakhand. So far, around 60,000 candidates benefited from this scheme including 3,836 candidates from the State of Uttarakhand."

A bench comprising justices A.M. Khanwilkar and Sanjiv Khanna noted that authorities are permitted to allow sale and use of firecrackers depending on the AQI in the city. The bench added that NGT order was clear and there is no need for further deliberation on the matter. It emphasized that the residents of Delhi are aware of effects of use of firecrackers, especially during Diwali when pollution levels spike.
