Rainfall intensity over NW India to decrease from today
"Scattered to fairly widespread rainfall with heavy rainfall is expected at isolated places likely over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh and northwest Madhya Pradesh during next 24 hours and further decrease in rainfall intensity and spread over Northwest India thereafter," IMD said. Delhi-NCR has been receiving heavy rainfall for the past two days.

India sees first bird flu death as boy succumbs in AIIMS
A senior All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) official said that the boy, who was infected with avian influenza, has died, and the entire staff concerned has been placed in isolation as a preventive measure. As per reports, bird flu outbreaks were reported across the country earlier this year, including in Haryana where the H5N8 subtype -- which is not known to infect humans -- was detected.
Karnataka becomes 1st state to provide reservation for transgenders
The final notification issued on July 6, specifies one per cent reservation in all general as well as reserve categories for the third gender. Whenever a notification is published inviting applications for the government jobs, 'others' column must be added along with male and female columns. The notification also underlines that there should not be any discrimination to the transgenders in the process of selection.
NBW issued against Salman Khurshid's wife
Chief Judicial Magistrate Praveen Kumar Tyagi, on Tuesday, issued the non-bailable warrant against Louise Khurshid and Trust secretary Athar Farooqui and has fixed August 16 as the next date for hearing. Louise Khurshid was the project director of the Trust. The Trust had received a grant of Rs 71.50 lakh from the central government for the distribution of wheelchairs, tricycles and hearing aids among physically challenged persons in 17 districts of UP.
Won't meet till Sidhu apologises: Amarinder Singh

Govt has no plan to borrow by issuing Covid bonds
In a written reply in the Lok Sabha, Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary said that there are no such plans of the government. The statement comes at a time when the economy is struggling to recover and government has also taken fiscal measures to support businesses and the economy. Speculations have been made time and again over the government issuing Covid bonds to garner more fiscal resources.
